DETROIT (AP) - The Hyundai Elantra has won the North American Car of the Year award. "This community has opened its arms to us," said Mike Marsh in return. Marsh complimented the staff that was mostly hired by the previous owner, Dan McCormick, as being a group of quality individuals that positively reflect on both the car dealership and on the community.
The
award came as a surprise to owners and staff at Bill Marsh. "This was
totally unexpected," says Marsh. "This was the first acquisition that
my brothers and I had when we took over the company from our dad, and I
don't think it could have gone any smoother. We are proud to be a part
of the village and the surrounding community," adds Marsh.
Both the Traverse City Record-Eagle and Grand Traverse Insider release awards given to businesses that are voted by readers as being the best in the region. The Record-Eagle refers to it as the Hot 100, while the Insider calls it the People's Choice Award.
In the Hot 100 list Bill Marsh is identified as the
best place to buy a new or used car and the best place to buy a new or
used truck. It also won the category as the best place to have your car fixed. The dealership came in second as the best place for customer service. See all winners here.
With the People's Choice Award, Bill Marsh was again identified as the best place to buy a new car, a used car and the best auto service department.
"We're excited and challenged by the awards," says Bill Marsh Jr. "We excited that our customers think so highly of us, but we are challenged to make sure that the high level of customer service continues in the upcoming year."
Over 90 Bill Marsh employees had the chance to attend a Traverse City Beach Bums game as a result of their generosity to the United Way campaign. Every Bill Marsh department that had 100-percent participation in the annual charitable campaign was treated to a night out at the ballpark.
Marsh was attending a meeting at the radio station when he was surprised by a video that outlined some of what he has accomplished through his involvement in programs like House of Hope, charitable fundraising events, Big Brothers Big Sisters and so much more.
